About Me:

Hi, my name is Nicole Laby. I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. For over two decades I've helped people navigate through depression, anxiety, marital/spousal problems, issues with intimacy, substance abuse, sexual orientation issues, chemical dependencies, and infertility. I have a specialization in eating disorders. Erasing ED (eating disorders), a documentary I wrote and directed, focuses on recovery from eating disorders. The Erasing ED Treatment Manual is the companion to the film. The book is written primarily for healthcare providers and students; however, the language is entirely comprehensible for everyone.

My training, professional experience, and life experience have helped form the way I understand the origins of emotional challenges and how we cope with them.

Overview

My Approach:

In terms of how I can assist, I work collaboratively with you, to support change and help you to overcome emotional and psychological barriers. Your history and present life experience is the map we can use to understand the basis for your emotional struggles. In a sense, I like to gain a clear understanding of your unique story and then provide support, guidance, and effective tools towards your healing process.

I enjoy working with a few different approaches rather than just one. I feel that the diversity is helpful as each person is unique and requires a slightly different approach to working out difficult matters.

  • Attachment-based
  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic
