I practice a combination of interpersonal psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, which explores early experiences and how this affects my clients' current functioning. I also incorporates a Gestalt approach, which focuses on where the feelings are viscerally residing in the body. For example, if someone is angry, the feeling manifests somewhere in their body – perhaps in the form of a headache, or an ache in the solar plexus. Discovering this allows the client to be more fully in touch with the feeling. This self-connection does not necessarily happen right away; finding oneself takes time, patience, and interest.
This holistic approach, combining various modalities, allows me to help my clients find their own way. It is their journey and I am there with them. Since I work with all ages – including couples – my approach varies depending on the current situation. Fine-tuning to each unique situation is essential. My approach is interactive and collaborative, individualized and non-judgmental with a warm welcoming atmosphere infused with humor.
