About Me:

Hello, I'm Coach J and I love living in Florida with the beaches & the bike riding.  My passion is helping people get through tough stages in life back to success. Orlando is a vibrant city with incredible sports opportunities for young people.  Sports is more fun when the mental part is working the right way.  I want the counseling experience to be enjoyable so I don't meet clients in a clinic or doctors office, I meet my clients  at the DeBary Golf & Country Club off I-4 near Lake Mary.  It's so relaxing, it really helps my clients get a new perspective.

My experience is unless you make some changes & get a new perspective, the outcome will not get better.

I have enjoyed working with every type of athlete from baseball & basketball players, cheerleaders, soccer, tennis, golf, BMX riders & Skateboarders with sponsors.  The mental part of the game is the same.  Bad thinking creates unsuccessful experiences.

As an athlete, I know when the athlete is struggling, the whole family struggles. I have a family & we have been through the ups & downs of sports.  As a life coach, my job is to help the whole family not just the athlete.  Many times, parents will have to change the way they interact with their young adult so we can support the building of confidence.

Services

Teen Athlete Counseling:

I work with many teen athletes, helping them stay on track or return to the sport they love. It's very important to enjoy the sport you are committing a lot of time and resources to. Your sport should be fun. Winning is fun. I want you to return to winning again on an off the field! Competing is work but it's very important for the athlete to understand the dynamics at play so they can master them.

As athletes get older, the competition takes a large up-tick because those players less serious start dropping out. The remaining players are the serious, the true blues, the ones who believe this game could be a long-term play. As the sport gets more competitive, it tends to expose hidden issues like poor eating habits, bad thinking & lack of preparation.

I’ve found that a lot of teenage athletes want the interaction with me to be less clinical and more “coach” like. I'm a positive thinker and when you are going through tough times you need hope and a strong game plan. I'm not looking to put an athlete on pharmaceutical drugs and we're not going to sit on a couch in my office. I prefer to meet my clients at Country Clubs and I always include new roles for Mom and Dad on how to support their child. Together, we can do this!

Phone Clients

One of my college baseball clients calls me to get his thinking right before every game he pitches.  He's very busy so I just speak to him for 30 minutes & build up his confidence so he can play at a high level. I can talk to you on the phone to if that is best.

For my clients, I visit them at games, practices & sometimes their  home just to get everything working right.  I once met with a 9 year old for two hours while he sat in his huge beanbag chair working his way out of a batting slump. Mom & Dad just sat outside the room listening to the session.  I will do whatever is needed to help you get back to the sport you love so it can be fun again.

I am constantly amazed at how quickly young people can turn things around in a positive way with some good, solid coaching.  I believe that a positive attitude is an early step to recovery & that's what I give my clients.
